Paper Contextual Curriculum and Multiple Intelligence Theory
Since Indonesian Government implemented the introduction of Curriculum on Educational Items Level (CEIL), there was variously response. Half of the responses were not proper and can hold back or decrease the implementation of this CEIL. A number of teachers and educational staff even consider it as a product of the new educational otoriter “bragger” by publishing previous educational products with a new cover.
Other teachers and educational staffs view this CEIL as a new curriculum, so everything must be changed. To face and response correctly, in this writing, there would be Contextual Curriculum which is one of the other alternative to apply curriculum in school by combining CEIL and Contextual Curriculum together. To apply the alternative curriculum in school, we have to know the condition of the student from their intelligence.
Although intelligence is difficult to measure, but we can start from the students need. But, it could be a big problem because, in Indonesia, English is a foreign language, students only learn English in school. Based on the problem above, this paper try to design such a Contextual Curriculum based on the students need, in which each student can develop their uniqueness, in relation to multiple intelligence theory in order to see the challenge that we have in the future, especially in development of English as a Foreign Language.
